The Madonie and the Nebrodi Natural Parks, along the northern coast of Sicily, protect the largest and highest mountain ranges of Sicily with beautiful forests, medieval villages, castles nested on high rocks, amazing sea-views and fantastic hiking opportunities. In these territories, normally neglected by mass tourism, each village shelters typical dairy, charcuterie and agricultural produces, old local recipes and a century lasting tradition of confectionary and handcraft.

For five centuries the kingdom of Sicily was part of the Aragonese-Spanish monarchy. This long period has had a great impact in our culture, architecture and lifestyle in Sicily and its capital Palermo. Baroque architectures, medieval palaces, Inquisition prisons, churches covered with precious silverworks, stuccos and marbles are the heritage of these Spanish “imperial centuries”. The Spanish tour of Palermo presents you the city in a different way, visiting monuments and areas that are not often considered by the walking city tours.

You cannot visit Sicily without seeing at least the monuments included in UNESCO listed Arab-Norman itinerary in western Sicily. Palermo, Monreale and Cefalu together with some more hidden gems offer the finest examples of the melting pot of Muslim, Byzantine and northern European styles that, during the Norman monarchy, originated this unique architecture. With our visit you will dive in the Sicilian Middle Age and discover beautiful landscapes and charming city centres that host the most important Arab-Norman monuments.

Western Sicily is a charming and wild land with an amazing coastline exposed to African winds, beautiful vineyards, windmills, archaeological areas, baroque and medieval towns. The harbours of Trapani and Marsala connected Sicily with Spain for many centuries and this is visible in architectures and traditions.
Local people keep the craftsmanship of salt pans, colourful rugs and coral jewellery. Here food can have a surprising North-African character and the area is known for excellent ricotta cakes and the best cannoli of Sicily. Wine production is the largest of Sicily with excellent DOCs and local grape varieties.

Palermo and its surroundings are full of surprises for curious visitors. Within less than an hour drive outside the city you can find amazing landscapes, rural areas with excellent organic cheese farms and wineries, villages that keep the 16th century Albanian traditions and are known for delicious breads and cannoli, hidden archaeological areas and beautiful natural reserves. The city itself is full of curiosities for those visitors who want to discover Palermo outside the tourist areas. An excursion away from the city crowd is an opportunity to experience a different Sicily that is really “off the beaten path”.

Sicily is a large island but, when it comes to wine, is a continent for the incredible variety of geographic areas and terroirs. Sicilians are winemakers since at least three thousands years. In Marsala, Mt Etna and many other excellent areas wineries grow Sicilian grape varieties such as nocera, corinto nero, nerello mascalese, grillo, catarratto, frappato, zibbibbo, perricone etc to make surprisingly unique wines.
We select the best wineries that combine quality, innovation and tradition with sustainable and often organic agriculture. Many wineries we work with are family-run and our guests are welcomed by the owners and the wine makers.
For groups of wine lovers, we can organise a regional tour of vineyards and rural areas where mass tourism does not arrive to discover a different Sicily at the speed of nature.
We can customise for you a great daily excursion or you can choose one of our suggestions.

In our country house, with a beautiful view on the castle and town of Castelbuono, we organise relaxing lunches using our family recipes, collected by our ancestors since 1800.
We are not professional cooks but we love Sicilian food, we enjoy very much buying fresh ingredients directly from local farms and little “putie” (Sicilian word for small old fashion food shops, butchers, grocers etc.) choosing always what our generous land offers in the four seasons. We have about forty old olive trees that yearly supply our family with a delicious olive oil.
Sicilians enjoy spending long hours in a kitchen cooking, creating, chatting and sipping slowly a glass of wine. If you are a group of 2-4 people we can host you in the kitchen for cooking some dishes together, if you are more we can prepare a lovely meal for you and share with you our recipes…our kitchen cannot fit many people! Our olive oil will always be on the table for generous tastings!
Group 2-4: lunch+ cooking together

Since more than three thousand years Sicily has a tradition of handcraft and art products. Sicilians live surrounded by colours and have a specific artistic way of making things even when grocers and fishmongers display their food on a market stall. From prestigious coral jewellery and fine majolica to colourful rugs, embroidery, theatre puppets, musical instruments, Byzantine icons, straw bags and baskets, from pottery for daily uses to carved olive wood, lava stone and wrought iron, handcraft traditions survive especially in small towns and villages.
We select some of the best workshops all over the island where it is possible to experience the daily work, meet the artisans and find unique artefacts.
We can tailor-make for you a beautiful itinerary if you want to discover this magic side of Sicily, go for an unusual “shopping tour” or find some piece of furniture that can fit in your home.

The workshops that we visit during our tours do not work primarily with tourists so every excursion has to be confirmed with the providers and needs to fit in their daily work schedules. Some activities and itineraries can vary according to season and weather conditions.
In our team we are all parents with children and we love travelling with our kids and taking them to discover nature, cities, museums and other cultures. We are aware of the fact that planning family holidays is sometimes a challenge because children need to be entertained and involved to transform a simple holiday in a beautiful and fruitful time off together.
All our activities are suitable for families but we can also design for you an itinerary or just a daily excursion offering interesting and entertaining activities for kids.
For them we have many beautiful reserves for bathing in the nature and observing wildlife, many pastures and organic farms where meeting friendly animals, medieval towns with mysterious walks and corners to tell legends and learn history and we proudly think that Sicilian ice creams are “probably the best ice cream in the world”. If you are staying in Palermo we can organise for you a walk to discover the fascinating world of Sicilian marionettes.
The kitchen of our summer house is always open for children who want to discover the art of Sicilian marzipan fruits and cannoli shells.
